Driving Ethical & Responsible Business

We’ve always been aware of the imminent risk and danger posed by climate change and our depleting biodiversity. Through our own experiences and our involvement with international stakeholders like Tandem Global and the International Bar Association ESG Hub, our partner-led multidisciplinary team can guide our clients though these challenges.

Our supply chain also reflects our values: we work with partners such as Electric Ireland, chosen for their leadership in sustainable energy. We support the arts and cultural sectors, provide pro bono legal support to charities, and regularly take part in fundraising and community engagement activities.

OUR IMPACT

Driving Change Through Measurable Action

  • Eco Friendly Office Ethos

    Green Activities

We use renewable energy sources across our offices and have reduced waste by 25% through enhanced recycling and sustainability initiatives. We have always had a green approach to our office practices, helping our team by facilitating reuse and recycling. We plan to increase our recycling capabilities and reduce waste further through initiatives including only using reusable keep cups and glass instead of single-use plastic, improving labelling on bins, and developing a recycling and reuse policy.

  • Green Commutes

Being located in Dublin city centre means we avail of a 95% green commute through public transport, cycling, and walking. We promote sustainable transport by participating in the Bike to Work and TaxSaver Commuter Ticket schemes, and we encourage our team to choose eco-friendly travel options. You’ll often see our solicitors at meetings around the city with bike helmet in hand.

  • Energy Conservation

Every act of conservation matters. From simply switching off lights to engaging with greener suppliers, we’re always taking steps to evolve and be more aware of office energy use, to cut back without compromising standards, and to take positive action towards a more sustainable future. Our office building is over two centuries old, and with regular upgrading, greater energy efficiency, and ongoing small changes, it will keep serving us for many more years to come.

Community Contributions

  • Pro Bono Outreach

    Pro Bono Outreach

We strive to foster a more just society through community involvement. We want to give back, so we’re constantly developing the ‘social’ part of our ESG to provide access to the legal profession to those who may otherwise be excluded. We do this by contributing real hours in pro bono services to support individuals and organisations with unmet legal needs.

  • Charity Partners

We have partnered with several organisations on providing access to our unique skill set including: Tandem Global, Minding Creative Minds and Sisterly and Women’s Aid annual cycling fundraiser. Through our partnership with Minding Creative Minds, we share our expertise with those who may be marginalised.

Through sponsorship of the Sisterly cycle, we raised funds for Women’s Aid, a vital charity that’s very close to our hearts. Several of our team also took part in a cycle through the Wicklow mountains with the Sisterly ambassadors: a truly uplifting event that showcased female leadership and wellness.

  • Community Contributions

Our team has always been community focused and involved in many initiatives through their volunteer work, such as local street cleaning initiatives, cycling from Paris to Nice and raising in excess of €85,000 for charity. We have also sat on not-for-profit boards and we support our neighbours the Simon Community every year.

We have been giving back to our community quietly over many years and will continue to do so well into the future.

Integrity & Accountabilityin Governance

  • Law Society Initatives

We actively take part in Law Society initiatives, in International Bar Association ESG initiatives on a worldwide basis, and we stay up to date on developments with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and its integration into Irish law.

    Legal Ethics

Our Litigation Consultant, Geraldine Clarke, is a recognised expert on legal ethics, and Solicitor Oonagh Gearty has completed further education in Charity Law to better serve NGOs and community organisations.

  • Equal Opportunity Employer

We’re committed to equal employment opportunities, fair salaries, safe working conditions, and our open-door culture promotes collaboration and staff wellbeing. We have extremely low staff turnover, which provides a sense of comfort and consistency to our clients. Most of our staff have been with us for more than ten years and many for over 20 years. We are a showcase for female leadership and real diversity and inclusion policies.

  • Educational Programme Participation

To keep up to speed on best practice and new initiatives we actively participate in educational programmes that drive positive, lasting change. Our solicitors have completed certified courses in diversity and inclusion through the International Bar Association and have contributed to webinars and conference sessions on how intellectual property can support the SDGs gaining insights that benefit our firm and our clients.

When we launched an international NGO in 2025 and required assistance to register our trademark in the EU, Gleeson McGrath Baldwin LLP provided the vital legal support and guidance needed to navigate the registration systems and submit a clean registration. Tandem Global was treated as a valued pro bono client throughout the entire process.
